Gun owners in New York State have been under attack for a long time, that’s nothing new, as Governor Cuomo’s hatred for gun owners — as well as America herself — is well established.
The SAFE ACT was one of the most egregious violations on the Second Amendment in American history.
Of course, the news has made it clear that gun owners in NY state are simply not complying with this bill in large numbers.
And, more recently, the Eric County District Attorney announced that his office was no longer prosecuting portions of the SAFE ACT as multiple courts have ruled aspects of the bill unconstitutional.
But the fact that his previously passed gun control bills have done nothing to stop crime and are being overturned in court has not stopped Gov. Cuomo.
Far from it.
In fact, Gov. Cuomo is working overtime to crush gun owners now that he controls the State Senate. And his number one goal is passage of ‘Red Flag Gun Seizure Orders.’
If enacted, ‘Red Flag Gun Seizure’ legislation would allow virtually anyone to make a claim that you are a danger to yourself or someone else and ask a judge to order you stripped of your firearms.
The amount of room for abuse in this process should have every gun owner in New York alarmed. Consider the following:
>>> These gun seizure orders will be issued before you have been convicted, or even charged, with anything!
A gun owner with absolutely no criminal background of any kind can have his firearms seized before he ever sets foot in a courtroom. You would have more due process rights in traffic court than you would in defending your constitutional right to keep and bear arms.
>>> The hearings that determine whether or not to strip you of your firearms happen in secret!
Known as ex-parte proceedings, these hearings take place in your absence. You will have no ability to question your accuser, provide your own evidence, or testify in your own defense. In fact, the first time you will be made aware of this is when law enforcement officers come to your home to seize your firearms.
>>> The mere fact that you recently purchased a firearm or any ammunition constitutes evidence that can be used against you!
Under the list of ‘evidence’ that the court can consider in deciding to disarm you is the ‘recent acquisition of a firearm, ammunition, or other weapons.’ So just buying a firearm or a box of .22’s could be enough for a judge to order you stripped of your firearms.
Every gun owner in the state knows someone who has gone through a bad divorce; maybe you’ve gone through that misery yourself.
Can you imagine what an embittered ex-spouse could do to you if New York enacts this legislation? How about a neighbor who doesn’t like your pro-gun bumper sticker? The risk to gun owners is ENDLESS!
That’s why the New York State Firearms Association is doing everything we can to mobilize as many gun owners as possible to stop this legislation.

No gun owner wants a criminally deranged person walking around carrying a gun. But there is already a process in place to deal with people like that.
Just consider the facts.
Under current law, those who tell others of their intent to kill can be arrested for making threats if law enforcement is ever informed.
Those who are exhibiting “warning signs” that they may be planning violence can — at minimum — be interviewed by law enforcement, who can move to arrest the person if needed.
As anyone in law enforcement will tell you, you can tell A LOT about a person’s intentions with the answers to just a couple questions.
But they’ll also tell you that no gun control law on the books will ever do a lick of good if law enforcement fails to do its job — like we saw at Parkland, Florida earlier this year.
Gun-grabbers know all of this, but they don’t care.
They are hoping to use their current momentum to RAM THROUGH Governor Cuomo’s long-awaited ‘Red Flag Gun Seizure’ bill, before you and I can try to stop them!
Don’t think for a moment that the outcome of this fight is predetermined, as it’s not.
In fact, capitol insiders report that Gov. Cuomo desperately wants to have Republican support for this legislation, to make sure that the political blowback that this bill causes doesn’t land solely on him and his allies in Albany.
That’s why we need to pour pressure on the Republicans in Albany, too.
Of course, gun owners should never forget that the SAFE ACT only passed into law with the aid of ‘pro-gun Republicans’ in Albany.
So we can’t trust them any more than we can trust Gov. Cuomo and his allies. In fact, Senate Minority Leader John Flanagan was one of the ‘pro-gun leaders’ who brokered the deal to pass the SAFE ACT five years ago!
So please stand with us!
Gun owners have been betrayed and attacked from all sides in Albany for a long time. This isn’t a Republican vs Democrat issue anymore.
This is an Albany vs. grassroots gun owners issue. The sooner we unite and hold ALL lawmakers accountable for their attacks on our gun rights, the sooner we can stop this non-stop attack.
It’s simple, actually.
No one is attacking lawmakers who attack our rights.
That’s why, in the 2018 gubernatorial election, Republican nominee Marc Molinaro’s running mate OPENLY supported the SAFE ACT and made it clear that they had no desire to repeal it.
With your help, we are going to start punching back at lawmakers who continue to attack our freedoms.
It’s the only way we can stem the tide in Albany!
