Just over a year into Joe Biden’s four-year war against gun owners and the Second Amendment, the fight to secure our freedoms has turned from an aerial bombardment into trench warfare.
The depraved legislation that we saw filed every other day in Congress has tapered off, as gun owners sent a message to the United States Senate that passing bills like H.R. 121, S. 746, and others like it would lead to their obliteration in November.
And while that’s a success for gun owners to be sure, in many ways, the threats that we are facing right now in Congress are more dangerous and more insidious than the bills above because these threats have bipartisan support and could pass the Senate!

Take the Violence Against Women Act (S.3623), for example.
This bill initiates a criminal investigation every time someone fails a NICS check (even though they are almost always false positives) and temporarily federalizes local cops and prosecutors so they can prosecute violations of this bill in federal court.
If passed, S. 3623 will unleash federally funded havoc on gun owners. Despite that, this bill has the tacit support of the NRA and has been cosponsored by almost a dozen Republicans in the Senate and may be voted on very soon!
The NYS Firearms Association has been fighting against this legislation since last year, doing everything we can to remind Senators’ Schumer and Gillibrand that advancing this legislation is going to greatly increase their chances of losing control of the Senate this fall!
This is just one of the compromised bills that we’re dealing with in Congress right now — there are at least four others.

Of course, we are also working overtime to shut down Kathy Hochul’s war on gun owners in Albany, too. Just some of the bills that we are fighting against include:
>>> Assemblywoman Chantel Jackson’s legislation (A-7771) which would require gun owners to pass a state issued mental health exam and a drug test before each firearms purchase!
>>> Assemblywoman Amy Paulin’s legislation (A-449) which would mandate a ten-day waiting period on the sale of every single firearm in New York State.
>>> Assemblyman Nick Perry’s legislation (A-581) which would force gun owners to obtain civil liability insurance before they could carry a handgun for self-defense!
>>> Assemblywoman Amy Paulin’s legislation (A-476) which would make it a crime for anyone under 21 to possess a firearm, without exception.
While some in the legislature are AOC-styled communists who want to pass all of these bills regardless of the consequences, there are other Democrats who are terrified that passing even one of these bills may cost them their reelections this fall!
So if we can fight hard enough, we may be able to shut all of these bills down this session. But it’s a major fight, and we need everyone’s help!

Of course, the NYS Firearms Association is also gearing up for what will be an explosive 2022 midterm election cycle thanks to Joe Biden’s complete incompetence, which is sending his party’s poll numbers to levels that we haven’t seen in decades!
Frankly, other than fighting to pass pro-gun bills or defeat gun control bills during session, there is nothing more important for a gun rights organization to do than expose gun-grabbers at election time.
The NYS Firearms Association revels in this task and over the years our radio, TV, and digital ads — combined with our direct mail, slicks and ground game programs — have made vulnerable gun grabbers pay the ultimate political price for voting against our freedoms!
The fall midterms present us with a chance to send a MASSIVE MESSAGE that New York still stands for freedom and the Second Amendment, and that gun owners will continue to hold gun grabbers accountable.
But we aren’t funded by a NYC billionaire. Everything we do is because of the members of the NYS Firearms Association who so generously give us the resources we need to FIGHT for them!

As you can see, NYSFA is fighting non-stop at the federal, state, and local level to defend the Second Amendment, and we are gearing up for an all-out war later on in the year.
