After a two-year battle to save our gun rights from the relentless attacks of Joe Biden and the Radical Left, gun owners across America were hoping for a ‘Red Wave’ on Election Night.
In fact, many of us expected it. I know I did.
But as we all know, that’s not what happened in Washington.
The good news is that, as of this moment, gun owners appear to have kicked Nancy Pelosi and Democrats in the House out of power…a ‘revenge vote’ for their attempt to disarm us through an onslaught of tyrannical gun control bills.
In the Senate, however, the results were not so good.
As I write this, it’s too soon to know which party will control the Senate for the next two years. Georgia is headed to a run-off and recounts are a possibility in Nevada and Arizona.
While there is still a chance that the Republicans could recapture the Senate, it’s very likely that Chuck Schumer will keep control of the chamber with a 50-50 “tie” — or even increase the size of his majority to a commanding 51-49.
Any way you look at it, at the federal level, this wasn’t a ‘Red Wave’ election that will end the threat to our gun rights in Congress. With an emboldened White House maintaining control of the United States Senate, you and I are in for a fight.
That’s why I hope that you will immediately renew your membership in the NYS Firearms Association for 2023, so that we can defend your gun rights in D.C. and here in Albany!
As you’re about to learn, we’re in for a hell of a fight in 2023 and we need all hands on deck!
You see, while the election results at the federal level are somewhat vague, there is no doubt about what happened here in New York State. Simply put, it was an unmitigated disaster.
While Lee Zeldin ran a very strong campaign and this was the closest governor’s race that New Yorkers have seen since 1994, at the end of the day, Krazy Kathy Hochul won her bid for re-election by six points.
Letitia James, the most demented Attorney General in the history of New York State who has made it her mission to destroy conservatives across the state, was re-elected by ten points.
But the biggest blows of the night were the results of the State Senate and State Assembly races.
I don’t think anyone believed there was a real chance of flipping the State Senate, but certainly gun owners hoped to soundly defeat the Democrats Supermajority and take a real bite out of their caucus in Albany.
That didn’t happen. While Senate District 17 is likely headed for a recount and the outcome of the race in Senate District 50 is waiting on absentee ballots to be counted, Senate Democrats will certainly hold on to that chamber — and they may still possess a Supermajority when all the votes are counted.
Some of you have already reached out to our office and asked us, point blank, if we think these election results are the result of fraud and a corrupt voting process.
I’ll be very candid: I don’t know.
Here’s what I do know: Kathy Hochul has taken her re-election and the results of races up and down the ballot as a ‘mandate’ to advance an even more aggressive gun control agenda –- and this fight begins the moment the 2023 session kicks off!
And that’s why I hope you’ll renew your membership in the NYS Firearms Association right away! We need your support now!
Next year we’ll be fighting a two-front war for gun owners.
On the one hand, we’ll be continuing to battle in Federal Court to block the implementation of the tyrannical gun control law that Hochul signed into law just a few months ago.
The excellent news is that a Federal Judge has already blocked New York State from enforcing major provisions of this gun control bill — calling them blatantly unconstitutional.
But while we are fighting in court, we’ll need to be ready for a massive new wave of legislative attacks on our gun rights.
At a minimum, we could see action on the following bills:
*** Mental health gun control legislation; this is Hochul’s number one agenda going forward as it would subject law- abiding New Yorkers to a state-issued mental health exam as a condition of buying a firearm. This isn’t merely an idea; the bill has already been filed!
*** A 10-day waiting period on all gun sales; waiting periods have been shown to get innocent people murdered every time they are used. But that’s a price that Kathy Hochul is more than willing to have law abiding New Yorkers pay.
*** Mandated civil liability insurance for gun owners; Hochul wants to require this coverage before you could own any firearm, full well knowing that no company sells this and it would lead to gun owners being disarmed statewide!
And honestly, this may be just the beginning. There were close to a dozen gun control bills allowed to die last session as some vulnerable Democrats pumped the brakes in advance of the midterm elections. Now, these tyrants will be totally unhinged!
This is the Democrat Party’s vision for New York State.
This is Kathy Hochul’s vision for New York State.
This is AOC’s vision for New York State.
But so help me God, this is not MY vision for New York State — and I am certain this isn’t what you want, either!
I love this country, and I love this great state. And I am committed to doing everything I can to stop any politician –- radical Democrats or weak-kneed Republicans alike — who want to weaken it by disarming law-abiding citizens like you and me.

I know that’s more than you’ve ever given before, but we’re going to be in a massive fight next session and the NYSFA must be able to pound on the politicians, flooding them with thousands of calls/emails from gun owners in their districts!
But running these programs — at the size we’ll need to run them — isn’t cheap. And after the massive amount we just spent on the 2022 election program and the ongoing expenses we have battling against Hochul in Federal Court, we simply don’t have the funds we need to do all of this.
Some people have given up the fight and spend their days talking about moving to another state. But as the father of seven children, that’s just not an option for me.

P.S. While it appears that gun voters flipped the House and fired Nancy Pelosi as Speaker, it was a narrow victory. And the Senate seems very likely to remain in Chuck Schumer’s hands.
